Four-week National Survey on illicit arms begins in Anambra state

Presidential Committee on Small Arms and Light Weapons (PRESCOM) has commenced four weeks national survey in Anambra State as part of its mandate to curtail proliferation of illicit small Arms and Light Weapon in Nigeria.

The Program Manager of PRESCOM, Mr Dickson Orji made the disclosure in Awka on Tuesday when addressing newsmen on the importance of the survey.

60 Percent Of Illegal Guns In Igboland Produced Locally

Presidential Committee on Small Arms and Light Weapons, PRESCOM, stakeholders’ sensitization forum, held at Enugu for South East zone, has revealed that about 60 per cent of the illegal arms in the zone are produced locally.

Professor Aloysius Okolie, South East coordinator on House Survey, of PRESCOM, said this during a two-day stakeholders’ sensitization forum on the comprehensive national Small Arms and Light Weapons, SALW, survey in Nigeria in Enugu.
